Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
@RN-Janet- Thanks so much! I remember you said you had some issues with coming off the medication, Multaq, right?. How long did it take before things settled down some? Are your AF episodes, if any, brief?
The game plan is to stop Pradaxa and switch back to aspirin in about 3 weeks. The big switch will come in early August when he wants me to stop taking the Metoprolol and Flecainide. Waiting to find out how my heart responds once I'm completely off the meds (especially on the ice) is a little scary but I'm encouraged by my progress to date.
Thanks Ohioafibber! Though I have lived in FL for 12 years now, my first 32 years were in Northeast Ohio :)
