No such thing as normal. But you may be one of the lucky ones that had arrhythmias a result to caffeine. In my opinion, keep your fingers crossed and count your blessing. No caffeine or alcohol for you!

Yes, Paroxysmal afib is unpredictable. Once you have have the cells fire for afib....you have the potential forever.,..unless those cells are ablated successfully. Often folks write on here that they had one episode and not another for a yr. or more or several more.

I am a believer that alcohol was, is and always will be a trigger for me. My episodes have gone from 2x month average for the first yr..when I was still having very little alcohol....to 2,3 and 4 mos. NSR with No alcohol for the past 2 yrs.

I also cut out the caffeine...but for the past yr. I am able to drink caffeinated tea.

Hoping your NSR lasts a very very Long Time!!!! And, who knows, you may be the first to have no more episodes ever.....and you know there are lots of things I don't know...so maybe someone has already done this!

Interesting. Doctors not sure exactly what sets of afib, but caffeine is considered a candidate. I had an episode during a heavy caffeine (coffee drinking) period, so I believe in the connection. I have since stopped drinking all caffeine. I'm taking a small dose of sotalol and so far so good for two years. there are definitely triggers.

Congratulations on 6 months of NSR. Like many have said you may be one of the lucky ones where caffeine and alcohol is a big contributor and stooping those things have done the trick for you. Lets hope so! keep it up and good luck!

yes its weird on my follow up with the cardio he was looking at me strange this is how the convo went (doc) how are you handling your flutters (me) what flutters (doc) you dont feel your heart jumping around in your chest (me ) no i haven't felt that since the first episode of afib 6 months ago (doc) has your heart range went over 100 bpm (me) nope the highest was 86bpm (doc) when was the last time you took meds for afib (me) 6 months ago couldn't tolerate side affects was on them for 3 days then stopped (doc) so your telling me you haven't taken any meds and you haven't return to afib (me) yup (doc) what did you do differently (me) i cut out all caffeine (doc) your not human (me) lol (doc) see yoou in 4 months for check up..

That is great. I was in a similar situation. I had to periods after diagnosis where I went 7 and 8 months with no AF episodes. I usually have on every 3 to 4. I hope you are luckier than me and stay AF free permanently. Best of luck.

thanks everybody for your uplifting words well i have my 2 big toes crossed if it decides to come back i hope its 40 years from now i will be 82 at that point it wont even matter lol
