Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I am a new member. My doctor has me take Digoxin 125 mcg once a day and Flecainide 50 Mg twice a day. I cannot reach the doctor over the week-end. I had an episode last night that lasted 7 hours. I would typically take Metoprolol which usually helps but did not. Can I take all three? Also, it seems cold showers work for me. Any thoughts. Thank you. Budd

My first A-fib episode was at the age of 47 and now 73. After many trials and errors I take 100 Flecainide 2x daily and one 25 mg. Metoprolol. Rarely do I have an episode anymore and if I do the breathing in slowly, out slowly, coughing hard and contracting the abdominal muscles. Ice on my neck and chest or AC blowing directly into my face will also end it.

On a plane I went into A-fib and had bags of ice on my neck and chest. If I am given my numbers it helps to get back into sinus rhythm.

Yes, you can take all three. The Digoxin did nothing for me. BTW-my Dad is 95 and also has A-fib. He has the same meds and I do without any episodes for years.
