Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Take the warfarin in the evening. The reason for that is because you will need lab work called a protime to monitor it. The protime actually measures 2 things, the protime or PT, and the INR. The INR is what they use to make medication adjustments. It should be between 2.0-3.0. If you have your labwork and the INR is too high they will tell you to decrease the dose or even skip a dose to get you back into that range. So it is best not to have already taken your dose before your labwork if it needs to be adjusted.
Fish oil may increase your INR. If you take it make sure your Dr knows, and be very consistent taking the same dose every day. The coumadin dose can be adjusted to keep you in range.
I'm not sure it matters what time you take the other meds, but generally people take those in the morning.
I take 200mg of magnesium twice a day, but I think some people take higher doses. It can cause loose stools so if that happens you want to cut down the dose a bit.
Hope this helps-Best wishes
