Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
What is really neat, is to grown your own Basil, Oregano, sage, etc....in a container garden on your porch!!!!
I was diagnosed with HBP about 15 yrs. ago. I took Lisinopril and my pressure was easily controlled. Then 2 yrs. ago, my BP started to drop every so often...way low. I kept a record of it for a month. I had some spikes, but more dips. My Cardio Dr. took me off Lisinopril...PCP agreed , I am doing fine w/o and BP med. for 2 yrs. in July. We didn't know why this happened...but it did..
At first you may need to get your taste buds acclimated, but eventually you will not notice it. In fact you can tell real fast if you have eaten some where that they used a heay hand with the salt.
It takes about three weeks to make the change.

Sodium is supposed to cause high blood pressure, so maybe it is the low sodium that is causing the low blood pressure?
Other spices are really nice - basil, thyme, oregano, etc etc. Experiment!
My taste buds are too sensitive for salty foods, I won't eat overly salty foods. I even eat air-popped popcorn completely plain - I actually enjoy tasting the popcorn itself.
I don't have HBP (not taking any drugs) and want to keep it that way.
after I exercise and sweat a lot. Does not seem to affect my HBP in any way. I have a cuff here so I can check it if I need to.
There are many herbs and seasoning without salt that really taste good.
