Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I lost over 100 lbs 4 years ago with Weight Watchers and have kept it off.
My a fib happened after my weight loss and I doubt weight loss can fix my sick sinus syndrome.
BUT if you ever need any sort of intervention it's much better to start out at a more normal weight for you height and age.

I have lost 140 pounds over 3 years and since July have lost 37 pounds as I have given up sodium my cardiologist mentioned that a diet high is salt triggers you bloodpressure to rise, and can put you into afib, I eat a very healthy diet and I never had gastric bypass surgery I did it by changing my lifestyle and giving up the bad foods.
I am 40 pounds away from my goal weight and am on the home stretch since giving up sodium and taking a taste of this and that my health and body has gone thru a major change and I am very excited and feel so much better.
my cardiologist is so excited with my results he is not use to seeing this in his office and he is my biggest cheerleader I am going to start an excerise regine now as my cardiologist wants me to work out that is my next goal. Best of luck to you Lynne
One of the biggest thrills is having a doctor walk into an exam room, see me and NOT have that look on their face. They get to deal with ME and whatever is bothering or not bothering me but they don't have to get through my overweight to do it.
They can't blame everything on my weight any longer.
It's like a new life.
Also, I have not been exercising regularly - (AF 2/3 week, recovery from an ablation and ankle surgery, and now a knee injury) - all keeping me from being more active this past year.
I'm not giving up though.
Does anyone know if there is a bleeding risk while on blood thinners with liposuction?
:-)
Thing is I went to 1.6 inr Friday and had to go back today for another test and today 1.9. Another one in 2 weeks. I was eating about the same but I had changed brands of calcium. It was the liquid with soy oil. When I kept trying to figure why and I try so hard to eat careful. One sure has to watch the vitamins. I have to hunt a dry brand. I only had to take one extra pill last week and am to one this week and next week one and see. Hopefully I can get back to the middle again. He said my heart sounded perfect.
With the stress of packing to move my BP went up and it is now back down. 140 is high for me.
I celebrated my 80th birthday early this month. I did break diet for a slice of cake and scoop of ice cream. They only had chocolate cake and it did not set off anything. But
It seems doctors want you low wt with heart problems. My son in law they told him to not gain back the wt he had lost when sick. They also keeping his BP low. In his case it is a weak heart daughter told me.
