So Deltiazem has really improved my life. I wanted to kill myself when I was on beta blockers but now I can tolerate Afib indefinitely. I take 240 mgs every day (CDs, so time release) and 480 when I go into afib. I think the max dose is 560 mgs.
Has anyone been ingesting a calcium channel blocker like Deltiazem for a long period, like over 2 years? Im worried about tolerance and it not working anymore. Like I said it does not prevent Afib but it helps me a lot with the symptoms.

Great to hear you have found something that works great for you! The only calcium channel blocker I had experience with was Verapamil. I didnt tolerate it well but I seem to be super sensitive to most of the cardiac drugs both rate and rhythm control. It is my understanding that you can develop a tolerance to the drugs and based on what you wrote, at least there is some room for increases. I hope your current dose works for you for a good long time. Carrie

As for me, I've been taking Flecainide 2 x 50mg per day (sodium channel blocker) for the last 7 1/2 months and it's essentially kept me in NSR the whole time.
My daughter has PAC and high bp and she is taking it now also. She was on betat blockers too and I kept telling her that is why she was soooo tired. finally told dr.
I've been on Dillies 180mg in the morning, now for 2 years and seems to be doing it's job - keeping the afib episodes at bay and my resting pulse at 60-64bpm. I was diagnosed with afib 21/2 yrs ago . So far I've had very few episodes and when they do occur last only for minutes. I guess the episodes will increase as I age - but so far so good. I'm now 62.
