Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

After 10 wonderful afib-free weeks, it struck again. I've been on Lisinopril, 10mg 1/day, diltiazem 120mg 1/day, multaq, 400mg 2/day, and xarelto, 1/day for about 2 1/2 months. Yesterday, while I was shopping, I felt it. It had been a while, so I tried to ignore it all afternoon, but, by evening, I took my PIP (60mg diltiazem) and .25 mg clonazapam. My HR was never higher than the 90's, and BP was normal. (Previous episodes have been 150+ HR and very high BP.) I'm okay this morning, if a bit weak. Random acts of afib......

I haven't yet determined my triggers, but if shopping is one, I am indeed in a mess!!!

Darn it Sautee, I'm sorry to hear this! I know I am always whipped out after taking PIP.

I agree if Shopping becomes a Trigger, there are a lot of us who will be in Persistant Afib...lol

Sorry to hear this...I'm in afib right now as I write this. Have you had an ablation before? I think I remember that you have, right? Either way, the Multaq has been working for you pretty well. I have episodes on a weekly basis it seems now. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident and you will have peace for a long time again.
