Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Information Overload

Hi Everyone,
I'm just writing this down to vent again. It's been almost a month since my last AFib episode and I have been doing a lot of research. I bought the book "Beat your A-Fib" and there is a lot of great information in there. Unfortunately, I am finding myself having a great deal of anxiety over all the different information in the book. I guess I am just having a bad day today psychologically and emotionally. I am letting my fear get the best of me. Just wanted to vent.

thorncrown4: I have a high tolerance for information overload, but the book was a little much for me. I think it is because the experiences of the various people are different as were their solutions, so they conflict. I agree you should go out and enjoy! It's fun and distraction from your concerns is healthy. A friend of mine, a psychologist, said something to me that has stuck with me. I think I was questioning the meaning and the purpose of life... he said "your job is to just live."

You're doing the right thing, you're reading about your condition, and the more you know about it, the less scary it will be.

I believe that fear grips us all at different times who live with this condition with varying degrees. Im the king of searching for all I can assimilate on this subject. At some point we all have to make informed decisions with the all the knowledge weve obtained. The good news and hope is that with ever increasing technology, treatment is getting better each passing day. Youre only as good as you are right now, so its gotta get better.

Venting is good and we get that! Part of why this group is so awesome!
Take a break as suggested and all will calm down for you. Info overload can be tough no matter what the info is but when it is trying to figure out your health it is only worse, step back and take some deep breaths!
