Your right, must be getting old...forgetting !! I am on Medicare so I guess they wiill pick this up too. Your explanation and information was great. Just what I was looking for, even down to "can you feel it" ! Thank you.

Just curious, Do you feel that it benefits you more than wearing a holter monitor? I just finished my blanking period and I guess this is the next step. I have complete faith in my EP and his recommendations, just a little nervous about having a foreign object inside me, but if it helps me to be safe, I'll do it ! Also, my Cardiologist doesn't think I need it, but my EP does.

I have had an implanted heart loop recorder for about 2.5 years. It is the previous generation, so it is much bigger (about the size of a disposable lighter). I also was told it had about a 3 year life, so I guess the battery will poop out within the next 6 months or so. I am going to BEG my EP to have another one. It gives me great peace of mind, and it has also has kept me off of anti-coagulants so far. If Medicare won't authorize another one, I am actually going to look into the cost of paying for it myself, even though I probably won't be able to afford it, but that's how strongly I feel about it.

man, no wonder we are in such debt and insurance costs so high. Between useless montiors, people not preparing for retirement and running to ER for everyting little thing, the costs have to be unreal. Yeah, pay for it yourself.

Actually, you want to monitor your rhythm longer than a holter monitor can measure. The implantable ones will come down in price when they become more widely used. If you have an ablation and want to go off anticoagulants, these monitors have a lot of value. petey

I have one and I love it, no guessing games with what is going on so treatment plan can be changed easily if needed. I am on Eliquis and was hoping to get off after ablation but it is not to be because of recurrent afib that is always caught with the implant. It shows length and heart rate, and any other irregularity with your heart so no guessing for the doc.

I had my appointment with my EP and he said since I was monitoring myself daily with my Alive Cor that I could continue to use that for now. He will re-evaluate if I need a Monitor in 3 months. I had a good report from my FIRM Ablation. 3 months in NSR with no A-Fib or Flutters.
