Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Hey all, just curious: if you had a choice of living the next 2 years in NSR before you died or the next 5 years in afib before you die, which would you take?

Interesting question. If the AF was severe and you were 'gonna die anyways. I might take the two. 5 years worth of paying for medications $$$$$$$ are 'gonna kill you anyways.

Id take the 5 but the people around me would probably suggest that I take the 2 because I get awfully moody when Im in AF! Not fun.

But Im glad I dont have to make that decision

I'd take the 5. But since I don't have a choice, I'll be happy with what I've already been dealt. :-)

Similar to what Surfrat said, if the rates were as high as mine were before the second ablation, I'd opt with the two years of NSR. Otherwise I'd go for 5.

Very unusual Question .... What were you thinking when you
posed it ... ?
I think most people are on this site because they want to live.
hence the ablations and trial and error of all kinds of drugs.
You are a inspiration to all the people on here ... what you
have done and been and where you are now.
God will bless you with WAY more than 5 years.
