Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Okay, well, I did a really stupid thing two weeks ago. I got my finger cut up in an immersion blender.

I put that for those who do not know what it is. Well, it spun who knows how many times and cut me bad.
Well, then the rest got worse. I don't remember running to the sink, but later found blood all over so I must have. I wrapped a cloth around it, and my husband drove me to urgent care for my insurance. So, they were idiots. Everything they had to treat it with had epinephrine, which causes me to have arrythmia problems, way before my afib. I'm sensitive to it anyway. So, he kept saying I'd need a ton of stitches, long before he glanced at it. I asked him if they couldn't at least just clean it up to evaluate the damage, and possibly xray it. He okayed the cleaning, and refused the xray. Well, my finger was numb, but the nurse refused to clean it or look at it. At least without anesthesia, which had the epi. Catch 22. So, they told me they could not help me, and sent me to a hospital. Of course, I had to go to a hospital I trusted, down the coast in Encinitas. Scripps. Well, they had no problem digging into it and cleaning it, grabbed a towel, basin etc. and with no anesthesia. Not much pain, it was numb.
So, they decided on like 20 stitches, internal and external. Then they started faltering on what to use for anesthesia. They xrayed too to check the bone, I didn't ask, they just did it. Anyway, after everything, they taped it, and taped it and taped it. Took a while as they had to try to make it all fit together as much as possible.
So, to my question. LOL! Has anyone sustained injury of the bleeding nature/afib, and needed stitches, and what kind of anesthesia did they use? I was at a loss on what would be okay for me.
And yeah, it's a royal pain in the "ear". LOL! I have to glove up to shower, and still can't get it submerged. Trying to get my meals cooked has been a nightmare. Relying on anyone in this house is not smart as I'd starve to death. So, yeah, don't rebatch soap, and forget to unplug your appliance, or try to multitask with more than a dozen things. LOL!

So for no open wounds. but I was a bleeder before taking warfarin. ..Just hit my head bad end of March. Couple months before it was pretty much okay, Being on warfarin makes this worse.

The dr. mentioned lidocaine. Doesn't do me any good now, ha ha, but maybe when I decide to be an idiot again. LOL!
The day was not too bad, it's the waiting for it to heal part. Predicting at least 6 weeks. It's been just over 2, and already I'm going nuts. Not the worse thing to happen of course. After afib this was not too bad although everyone else thought it was. They all have no idea about afib though.
