Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I am on low dose of toprol xl er and i feel like crap at times dizzy type symptoms not spinning but just off anxiety and other head symptoms any one else have similar or other side effects thanks steve

I took it daily for about 4 mos. It made me very lethargic...I had no energy to do much of anything....awful time for me!

I asked constantly to be taken off of it. Finally, my Cardio Dr. said, I needed a pacemaker....so I could take it. Crazy!!!! I still had regular episodes, so I didn't think it was doing me any good.

I got another opinion, and stopped taking it. I still had the same regular episodes..about every 3 weeks. but felt like my usual active self. Much Better!!

I take it now, Only when I have an episode. It brings my high HR down, so I can function while in afib, until I convert.

yogcat did you ever consider an ablation for afib. I had one from Dr. David Lin at Univ of Pa in philly in 2008 he is excellent

stevebo, not at this time. My episodes are a huge nuisance, but not unmanageable. I have other issues I also deal with.

stevebo, why are you taking a beta blocker if you had a successful ablation in '08?
