Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I've been taking some time away from the forum, because my mood certainly has not been the best. An ablation gone wrong will do that to you...but now things are looking up. My Sister in NYC is wanting me to see Dr. Vivek Reddy at Mt. Sinai this coming spring or summer. I've been e.mailing with the office staff and had my records faxed there. He comes highly recommended by Melanie at stop afib.org, who has an interview with him online. He is one of the top EP's in the country and he does a very new procedure for persistent A-fib, which is what I need. He also installs the Watchmen device (one of only a handful of EP's that do), so that you never have to take a blood thinner again. There is hope if he accepts me as a patient, and it will give me a chance to see my Sis and visit with her. I am blessed to have the most wonderful Sister in the world..God is good.
My lung is healed, and I'm off the oxygen. I'm still extremely tired, and of course I still have A-fib, and there are day I'm way to dizzy to drive, but overall I'm looking forward to this new adventure in my life and going home to visit.

I would be very interested in knowing more about the Watchman, because like Joan I too have had a TIA and understand that I will have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life. Mind you if that is the worse that can happen to me I don't mind.

Petey, I won't be going till summer. They want this ablation to be completely healed first, but he has e.mailed me and thinks he can truly help. I'm praying that's the case, and I definitely will keep all informed.
I just can't deal with the overwhelming fatigue and dizziness. it interferes with me driving anywhere, and I like to think I'm very independent. I have to find a way to put a stop to this:) The A-Fib is persistent, and I am too.
