Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I can only speak for myself, so here goes. I wish diet, meditation, exercise or losing weight would rid or even just help me control a-fib. Alas, such was not meant to be with me (Im not overweight nor do I eat improperly and exercise when I can and meditation for me is drawing) . On the other hand I believe if you can find your trigger and try something to counteract it and you feel it works then go for it! I looked for mine long and hard but my trigger seems to be time; my a-fib comes when it wants, stays as long as it wants and goes when its darn well ready.
The bright side is we have had at least one person on here who found his trigger and was able to keep a-fib under control for quite a few years that way (diet). So it IS possible, but a-fib is so individual that basically the only thing we have in common is that we all have it.
Again, I say if you try something (lose weight, change diet, start yoga or whatever) and you feel better then continue!
