Ive got a med choice MD 100E. Bought it on e-bay about a year ago. I couldnt get a good reading using just the palm of my hands but get a wonderful reading by putting in on my chest. The first time I saw my EP I had a stack of printouts for him to see, he just glanced at them and said, yep a-fib. After my second ablation I had a 6 8 hour roll of flutter, when I showed him the printout there he asked to keep it.

The most important thing for me was to prove to myself that, yes, I had a-fib (I always felt so normal when I was in NSR and thought maybe, somehow I was imagining all this.) I was in denial for a long time. There was a time there when I was taking my ecg VERY often and it helped me come to terms with it. I also educated myself in how to read it (all the waves and such). Although Im in a-fib a good deal of the time now, I no longer bother using it very often (unless something really strange happens).

I suppose the important question is WHY you want one, is it for you or your doctor? Doctors dont seem to be too impressed with it, they like their own toys. If it is for you then I would say go for it.

I've had mine for a bout a month and really liked it. I find it very accurate and reassuring. I have also sent it to my doctor for his analysis and he was able to detect that I was not in aFib sometimes but was having premature atrial contractions .it only cost about $80 so you can't go wrong

I think doctors don't care how often you are in afib... you have afib period. Twice a week, twice a month. Same thing (to them). The extreme case is me who has been in longstanding persistent afib for years. One day last month my doctor said I was in NSR. Scared the heck out of me. What changed? Nothing. Still on Pradaxa and Bystolic.

I love my Alivecor. I've had it for a couple of years an it is mostly a psychological cruch for me. When I feel like I am in Afib I can confirm it. If if feel something is strange I can send it for a reading for $2. Their tech readings are not always accurate because once they said I was in flutter so I emailed the strip right to my EPs nurse and she called back an said it was not flutter. For the most part they are quite good though and it is nice that the strips can be emailed to your doc right from the phone.

They recently upgraded their software to automatically detect afib. That has missed some of my strips with afib, but I know afib when I see it so that is not an issue.

One of the most useful things for me is that I can run a strip to confirm I am back in NSR.

I also like to being able to keep track of my rates. The new software also graphs your rates and afib episodes.

My first EP had never seen the alivecor before and seemed quite taken with it, my second EP who works for a very large medical center wanted to keep the print out of my afib to show other docs the quality of the strips produced by the alivecor. He put it in his pocket as he left the room.

From all of your comments I checked out Alivecor on the web, It's located in San Francisco, .4 miles and a 6 minute walk from my condo. If I buy it maybe I can avoid the shipping costs and just pick it up. Probably not!

I like to use my trusty fingers on my wrist or carotid artery to check if I am in afib or NSR.

I just talked to a gal from AliveCor today. I am waiting on the iPhone 6 case. She told me it would ship sometime 03/2015. I have an extra IPad mini that I can use it with as well (no one uses it and I can use it solely for the monitor). Those of you that have the AliveCor - do you use it on your mobile or have a separate devise? The lady from AliveCor told me she keeps hers on her mobile all the time.

Neuropathy in my fingers does not allow me to check with them. I guess I just will not stress too much. If when I take my blood pressure my little heart looks crazy or I feel I am in afib I just use an app on my phone which the Dr. found out works pretty good. It works for me, I am afraid with each new phone your accessories may not work, and the ER Dr. told me that one.

My monitor can slide off the back of my Android phone; just the holder for it stays on the case all the time. I can, however, keep it on my case all the time if I choose. Doesn't interfere with incoming phone calls, etc.

I have used alivecor for 8 months, and I am happy because it help discard symptons that in the past, i had attributed to my afib and by taking EKG and getting back the results, I found that most of the time, those symptoms were false indicators of afib
