Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

My husband and I just got cards in the mail from a company called Healthcare Alliance / Rx relief. We did not contact this company. These cards came to us unsolicited. The letter accompanying these cards advised that these are prescription discount cards that can save 75% on prescriptions. I have never heard of this company and it all sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else ever heard of this company/benefit? Is it legit? The website reported on the letter is www.RxReliefCard.com. I am thinking of taking the cards to the pharmacy next time I refill my script to see if they (Walgreens) has heard of them. It sure would be nice if it truly is a free benefit but I am skeptical. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I appreciate any input :)

Hi CLane. I just noticed this post/thread as activity when I logged into DS. I usually don't venture from the main forum. I had heard about this crad you're speaking of and I ended up going on-line and filling out the application several months ago. Eventually I go my own member card with ID# in the mail. I tried using it @ Walgreen's a few weeks ago and my pharmacist told me that they did recognize it but what I was paying for @ the time would cost me more (less of a discount) than the Walgreen discount card I was using. So, the jury is still out with this thing. It may work very well @ Walmart or elsewhere?? I will let you know the next time I try using it. I do know it is legit - it's just a question as to who really honors it with some of the discounts that it claims!! If you haven't got a Walgreen's discount Rx card yet, do so!! Good luck. - Thomas

Huh? Sorry, I thought this was one of the other sub-forums, I guess it is the main one! Lol. In any case no doubt others will dial in here. Like I said I just tried it @ Walgreen's thus far and it is legit. Maybe it ROCKS in other places, I might try CVS before Walmart - but more often than not CVS and Walgreen's are on the same page. ;)

Thanks Thomas! I do have the Walgreen's W discount card and it has really saved me some serious money over the past couple of years. Perhaps I will hang on to the Rx relief card and check Walmart, CVS or Publix in the future to see if they honor the card and what my prescription might prospectively be. Per the Rx relief website, my medication, Flecainide, would be discounted 55%. Currently, the Walgreens discount card saves me $16.00 on my current medication/dose with the retail price being $66.99 and the price with my card being $50.99.

I'm sure some others here have had more experience with this gig. I suspect it has alot to do with what type of medication etc. Like I said the Walgreen's Card worked with a better discount regarding Metoprolol ER 25MG. Let us all know what you find out as any discount $$$$$ these days is a good one!! - Thomas

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) Several Central New Yorkers have told NewsChannel 9 that they have received drug discount cards through the mail lately.

The cards are from Healthcare Alliance, a New York City-based company, which says it can save the recipient an average of 40 percent.

Pharmacies, however, will not accept the card on top of any insurance the person already has. In addition, the Healthcare Alliance card is not a health insurance card its simply a discount card. Its free to use for those paying cash on their next prescription.
