Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Yep, it's me. I've been 3 years afib free after an ablation, but I lost my beautiful daughter 3 weeks ago, and I've been back in afib ever since. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I still don't feel it, but the fatigue is back, and worst of all I'm so short of breath this time with it. I won't hesitate to get another ablation though. I'm not taking anything at the moment, as the Dr. hoped I would convert back. I guess it's Equilis for me (did I spell that right?:) when I go in again next week. It sucks after all this time, and thinking it was gone for good, to have it back. It's been the most horrible 3 weeks of my life. No one should ever have to bury their child, even a grown one. It just shouldn't ever happen.

I've missed you all, but it was nice to be in the group that didn't need help every day, and could just drop by occasionally. I had actually forgotten I ever had A-Fib. The Dr. said he thinks the shock and stress did it. Is this going to happen again....I mean no news is always good news?

Oh Dee, I am so sorry!!!!!!

My Daughter died 19 yrs. ago.
. I easily remember the shock, sorrow and pain that crept through as the numbness wore off.

I am truly sorry!!

Please know how sorry I am for your tragic loss. There is no greater stress , at the worst you will be on an anticoagulant and a med and the a fib will get under control and calm down and you will feel better, at the best it will clear up or they will offer you a second ablation when you are feeling better. Take care of yourself this is as hard as life gets.

So very sorry for your loss...I am certain that this caused the afib to come back. This is an unimaginable sadness that our bodies just cannot deal with. My afib struck when Mom got cancer. Small sample size then, but I am sure there are others here who had this develop during a time of terrible stress. Hang in there.

So sorry for you loss. One can only guess the pain you have gone through.
Please stay strong! Sadly enough, sickness is cruel and two faced like that. Itll hit you in the back when you are at your weakest and least expect it.
To me, if the devil was on earth with us, one of his best disguise would definitely be sickness and tragedy.
Dont let it win, get the treatments you need and rid yourself of this nuisance.

I am so sorry for your loss, it is horrible to lose a child at any age.
My son passed when he was 50, I still feel the pain.

Thank you all for your kind replies. I felt pretty good yesterday, and knew after the past few weeks, I needed to get out of the house and be around people. I did some shopping, and spent a good 3 hr. out and about, and felt pretty good. Then, I got my flu shot, and today I think my arm is going to fall off:), but it needed to be done. I know that shock or stress can cause you to go back into afib, and that's why I keep praying I'll convert back on my own. I go for an echo on the 11th, and I guess we will go from there. Thanks again for all your kindness. It's so appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. You are right that this should never happen. Life deals us terrible blows. I believe this to be the greatest, and understand the return of your a-fib from the shock. Perhaps, as you are able, seek the help of therapy and/or integrative medicine. They can offer positive methods, as well as our traditional doctors. Ask help from friends, too. I wish you peace as you move ahead. Cindy
