Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I wish you the best of luck with the naturopathic route. It sounds like it is already working for you! I did try it...after my first bout of afib put me in the ER and they told me I would be on metoprolol and flec for the rest of my life, my reaction was "NO WAY!" So I went to the naturopathic store and went on a bunch of supplements....a month later was back in the ER. The ER doc was a meanie. When I told her that I hadn't been taking the metoprolol and flec and was going naturopathic, she just looked at me and said "How is that working out for you?" It was mean, but funny...I had to laugh. But we are all different and I hope for your sake that this route will take you to where you want to go. We have had other stories on here of lifestyle changes and naturopathic approaches having great success. NSR to you, my brother!

At any rate, Im sure I would NOT be happy with your cardiologists treatment. Im glad you have found something that is helping!! Way to go. The next thing well be hearing from you is that your a-fib converted and you are now in NSR.

Happy Holidays to all
Then Afib and they want you to see a specialist, at this moment I am too confused. I am hoping once they are done with all the tests I have the energy to make it up to Bastyr College Naturopathic Dept. I just hate driving in Seattle but I hate meds even more.
Pianoman, hope you get some answer's. My short time with this I am realizing the Dr.'s do their besr but really don't understand Afib......just my personal opinion.

I think Dr.s understand afib, cells misfire and create chaos.
I truly believe each of us is unique with the way it affects us, and how best to manage it. So, no dr. can come up with a successful 'one size fits all'
It takes a Dr. with experience to know of a variety of ways to try and Luck to get it right. My first Cardio dr. thought Metoprolol was the Way to go. My EP thinks ablation is the Only way to go. My current cardio dr. has given me option of Metoprolol or Rhythmol. He also is up for Flecainide if those fail. It takes time, open mind and communication to get it right....and then it is liable to change. So, it also takes Patience and Faith.
One day at time~
It is easy to do with younger Dr.'s. Specialist not always so easy. I know how to check interactions if they don't work with me.
