Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Hi, I haven't been around lately, but I've been battling some serious health problems. Next week I'm having surgery for kidney cancer. I don't think it ever rains that it doesn't pour. I came to ask for prayers or good wishes or whatever you can give me, because this is scary. I'm trying to remain calm, but not doing a very good job of it. That's the bad news.

The good news is my A-Fib never returned. I've been in sinus rhythm almost a year now....does it even seem possible?

I have missed you all, but just been consumed with dr. visits. My 3 daughters live here in Boise, and one will be flying in from Tennessee next Tuesday to take care of me and my little dog. They won't be able to keep me down long. They found the tumor early, and it's still small and has not spread, so that's the good news.

Talk to you again when I'm hopefully on the road to recovery,

Oh Dee, so sorry to hear this news.
I think you are a stronger person because of your battle with a fib. Cancer doesn't stand a chance! This is a time to take all the help your loved ones can give you...so glad you have their support.
I will keep you in my prayers.

SO sorry to hear this, Dee. I just sent up a prayer for strength for you. Thank God it's small and didn't spread. Do they think they can get it all? Great news about the a fib. I hope that continues.

Good luck Dee. The other good news is that this type of cancer is very curable (like 99%) according to kidneycancer.org, when caught early. I hope the surgery goes well with minimum discomfort. Keep strong! petey

I Know you are joining the 99% for successful Cure!!! It just has to be this way for you, our Dearest Dee!

.May your Surgeon and Medical staff be alert and guided to do Everything just right. May your Recovery be Minimal and lead you back to Good health so you can enjoy Afib free days, and May you know we will be cheering and praying for you.

You have no idea how much your prayers and good wishes have already helped. I've missed you all. It's sad to be rid of one thing and get another. My surgery is Thur., July 18 at 3:00 pm MST....my surgeon is excellent, and he uses the DaVinci robot for his surgeries. He says he is sure he can get it all, but you never know, and have to be prepared that it can turn into an open surgery. I pray not though. My daughter from Tenn. comes in Tues. and I haven't seen my Babygirl in 7 years. I'm so glad she is coming. My grandson (her son) is a Diabetic Type 1, and I know it worries her to leave him, but the family she has there do a great job of helping, and he's almost grown up now...just turned 14 and old enough to know what is going on with him.....and I'm rambling:)

Anyway, I will sign on when I'm able and let you know how I am. Thanks again for being my online friends. Thanks Petey for your research. It just makes me feel better to hear the cure rate is so high.

Dee: Many of us (including me) have a lot of respect for you because of how you have tackled afib and other health problems in the past. We all support you and I try to do the research. Information is good... especially when the odds are 99%. You are strong. When you have the successful surgery, reward yourself with something you have wanted to do, but put off. Maybe it is visiting your family, or a trip, or just pampering yourself. :-) petey
