Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

flight , traveleing , and AFIB

does any one here take travel on flight having a fib ,anything to worry or be concerened .

i know this is a stupid question

Is flying quite safe if I have atrial fibrillation?
Sitting in one position for a long time and becoming dehydrated can cause the blood to thicken increasing the risk of clots forming.

To protect yourself when flying always:
drink plenty of fluids
avoid alcohol
get up regularly for short walks
make sure you have plenty of leg room
stretch and move your feet and legs about when sitting
If you have any queries about flying speak to your doctor or the airlines medical advisory department.
