Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

My daughter has extra heart beats and high BP and her dr put her on atenanol - she is very tired and still getting these heart beats so he put her on flecainide. She took her first pill last nite and had terrible chest pain and her heart was racing. she is ok now but bp is high - anyone have these side affects?

I think she should call her Dr and let them know what happened. I don't think she should take another dose of flecainide without consulting her Dr. I take flecainide twice a day with no side effects to speak of.
There are many meds that could lower her B/P. Hope they can find the right meds soon.
Another suggestion...avoid caffeine, sugar, and other stimulants if she is not already.

I agree with Marikay! This shouldn't happen and should be checked.

she did stop it and called dr and he agreed stop it - she saw another cardio yesterday and she changed her from atenonol to another beta blocker. will see. thanks for posts
