Looks like there is I wide variation in how much they prescribe, steve.

Well....I'm not happy to hear this news. I've been doing well on flecainide for 2 years. I take 75mg twice a day. I have been thinking that I would like to try decreasing the dosage....maybe that is not such a good idea. I hope an increased dose does the trick for you.

as you all know I am a Flecainide Chick....and happy with it.....I have been told that the 50mg twice a day that I take is the *baby dose* and that the usual settled on dose is 100mg twice a day.....so I think you can plan on another 5+ years of stability Steve :) I too was thinking I would like to lessen my dose of Flecainide, but to what ......

The highest dose of maintenance Flecainide I personallly have come across in my nursing practice is 150mg twice a day

Thank you all for your comments and encouragement. Flecainide has really been side effect free so far and hopefully that will continue. I was a bit perplexed as to why I suddenly needed a higher daily dose. Are my kidneys& liver clearing it faster? I know certain fish can learn how to clear toxins. Is my current batch of Flecainide of slightly lower assay? Timing does not match up too well for this explanation. Has my heart degraded somewhat ?- clearly not the desired explanation. I would love to hear from anyone who required an increase in their dose after being well maintained on a lower dose for years. I really should not whine so much :) as I really have been blessed given how well Flec has worked.

Steve9, After starting out on a few different drugs to control; the a fib and having bad results the doc put me on 100 mg of flecainide twice a day. This worked well for a long time and I was having no episodes so I cut the dose to 50 mg twice a day and that worked for about a year and then a short time ago I had a few days of a fib and went back on the 100 mg dose and life is good again. I have no idea what set it off but it was not the beer or spirits. NSR to all Rick

i had an ablation in 2008 and since then had 3 break throughs and when i had them used pip which is pill in pocket 3 100mg pills of flec and 1 25mg of toprol and it would bring me back into rhythm within about 30 mins. However this January i6 i had Bronchitis and was sick for two weeks at the beginning of the sickness i was on no drugs however had two episodes and took pip and went back into rhythm however after talking to doctor he didn't want me to use this an put me on 100mg of flec morning and evening with 25mg of toprol I see the doctor Monday and not sure what he will do i have not had breakthrough since started drug however i never feel great on any drug and my heart rate now is in 50s usually around 55 and blood pressure is low anyone else have any problems with how they feel on flecinaide thanks

stevebo, I was on flec 100 mgx2and toprol xl 25 x1 and had the same problems --- low blood pressure and low heart rate and felt like crap. I quit the toprol and in days felt great heart rate went to 70bpm at rest most of the time and my
Bp came up to a normal level for me. So now it's no more toprol and only flecainide. NSR to all Rick
