Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I play a lot of golf and when out on the course i feel a strange feeling right in center of the chest like i have to burp or maybe a skipped beat . I had afib but on no drugs after the ablation but get those feeling every once in a while. I am tihinking that maybe when the heart rate goes up higher during play it causese some of those feelings. Anyone else have feeling like these

Yes I get that all the time and believed it was a missed beat perhaps. I will feel this feeling in my chest and after I feel it, I will cough for some reason. Never have been able to prove that though. I had an ablation 2 days ago and going through a bout of post ablation afib so hope to be where you are in a few months.

good luck on the ablation you might have some minor a fib attacks the next few weeks but mine went away. My doctor from Univ of Pa was excellent and he kept me on the drugs and slowly took me off the different drugs. I have had some about 4 episodes since 2008 but i am on a PIP pill in the pocket where if i have an attack i take a toprol 25mg and 3 100mg flec tablets and usually within 35 40 mins i will go back into rhythm. You might ask your doctor about pill in the pocket as you get along in your recovery. Good luck and thanks for you reply to mine question

I've experienced what both of you experienced. Sometimes I DO have to burp. Coughing is good if your heart is jumping around. petey
