Hi Vinny: A few year ago, I wore a Cardionet 30 day monitor. It was cool because it transmitted by itself which I really liked because I did not have to call and transmit the strips. Before that, I had previously wore an older monitor that I had to call in daily to transmit strips over a land line when the recording space was full. Good luck with the monitor. I hope they are able to determine how often you are having Afib.

Hi Vinny - I just got my 7 day monitor today (in a week my second blanking period will be over!). Is a 30 day monitor the same: 2 sticky pads and a pager-sized machine stuck on to one of them which is connected to the other sticky pad? Or do you have something like a Zio (I think its called, shaped sort of like a butterfly)?

I wore a 30 day monitor after my ablation. In the 30 days I had over 600 events. It would beep every time I had an event, very nerve racking. I had to upload the data, sometimes several times a day, what a pain. There are better external monitors, but it depends on what your insurance is willing to pay for.

You need to change the sticky pads every day. At the end of the month, you will be missing a bit for skin from your chest. I found that getting all the glue off before putting on the next pad, helps. Use alcohol wipes to help remove the glue.

Now I have an implanted monitor (and my heart is much more stable). Everything is automatic. I was able to get this a week after I was 65, Medicare pays for it ($17,000 before the Medicare discount).

why doesn't your doc just put you on Xeralto or something?

thanks everyone....keep pumping i had allergic reactions to xeralto, perdaxa, and elequis...so im on warfarin now. the monitor is state of the art by cardionet...it has a monitor that works like a cell phone and constantly sends data...it sends texts messages and records symptoms....trouble is i can never tell when i go into afib....it asks if i am lightheaded or dizzy though and i dont know how to answer that. at a few pts. in the day i feel totally drained and whiped out for now reason and wonder if i should report that as a symptom? the monitor needs to be charged like a cell phone and the sensor works off a battery...pads to be changed every other day. I hope it works ok ....dunno.....still dealing with the burning itching skin thing. nothing seems right since i had the two mini strokes.....like im off....dont feel like myself and wake up with a horrible headache. I would report the drained feeling or anything that you feel different or ''Not quite right" My friend refers to it as 'That' feeling...we all experience it a little differently.
