Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Interesting article about how Electrophysiologists think people with afib have a better quality of life than they actually do. I've been to two EPs who both poo-poo my afib.

Very interesting. Unless they have been there themselves, they probably don't have a good handle on how debilitating it can be, esp mentally.

This is good.
I think mental stress is the worst part of A Fib---- even worse than severe symptoms or side effects of heart meds.

I think it's cumulative-symptoms, med side effects AND the mental aspect. I think the mental is the thing that is not addressed well.

Interesting.

I guess we all must persevere and gain as much knowledge and second, third or forth opinions on our own journeys regarding contacts with EPs and Cardiologists.

Bring notes to your appointments and try to be diligent regarding your questions and concerns!!

I'd love to repeat that study here in australia.....wonder if the Heart Foundation could find me some research dollars?
