I don't think so. The first year I was on flecainide I had 2 or 3 short episodes. I went from 2-3 a week before flec to 2-3 the first year and then none since....about 3 years with none I am aware of.

Thanks Marikay. When I felt the first abnormal *bumps of my heart, I quick popped a 30mg Cardizem and then a beta blocker, either for a more rapid heart rate or anxiety!!!! Took a second Cardizem about 40 minutes later and it stopped 30 minute later.

I had the opposite problem, flecainide made my afib dramatically worse and caused my BP to skyrocket. Rythmol was better but still not great. 2 weeks post ablation with fingers crossed....

I've been on Flecainide 50mg x 2 per day for nearly 13 months now since my last AF episode in late July 2014. I've not had any AF since then; however, I've had what I think was a bit of atrial flutter - which shows up as a slightly elevated but still-regular beat and had a bit of dizziness. Taking an extra Flecainide (with dr's prior permission, of course) along with the regular dose terminated it in 2 hours.

My dr says Flecainide is the best anti-arrhythmic on the market - the lowest side effects and he thinks it will continue to work for me "for a very long time" (he did not define "a very long time" though.

My dr said that typically, if 50mg x 2 doesn't work, they will up it to 100mg x 2. I hope I don't get to that point.
