Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I'm not sure if anyone has discussed the Eliquis and Xaralto antidote Andexanet alfa. I know it's through phase II trials and they will be starting phase III trials. It was one of the reasons that I decided to start on Eliquis. Here's the best report I could find on it:

BTW, I'm currently on Coumadin. My plan is to stay on Coumadin for the next few months. I need to have some dental work done, and it's better done on Coumadin. In September I'm going to Europe for two weeks. I don't want to change meds until I return, so I will probably switch to Eliquis in October. I like that Eliquis has a 12 hour half life as opposed to the 24 hour half life of Xarelto. Both of these drugs work the same way, so this new antidote will work with both. My understanding is that Eliquis has somewhat less Renal involvement.

I have a Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Plan, and I pay 45.00 month. It used to be 95.00 when I started it 3 yrs. ago. I did get a free month in the beginning :-)
