Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

Thanks for your input. I hope you are able to avoid diabetes, as this complicates everything. There's always hope that a new medicine without bad side effects is on the horizon. In 2009, I had viral cardiomyopathy ( what country singer Randy Travis had). It led to congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and A Fib. At one point, I was told I may need a heart transplant. Thankfully, my heart went back to normal rhythm after a cardioversion. In August, 2010, our house caught fire. I went into instant A Fib. Amiodarone did the trick -( BAD side effects though) . No A fib until this past summer, when a sinus infection and chronic, severe, cough, put me back in A fib. Because of past heart problems, I am severely limited in what I can take. My cardiologist is also an A fib patient. I wish you well. Dolores
