Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I would be tired too if I had to get up at 5 AM............

once again, we are all different. my cardio guy - as much as I like him and have a good give and take relationship - has never given me a straight answer on whether and what are the different stages or tiers of Afib. AND, like other diseases (for cancer there are stages, types, levels, grades) how are they designated?
the main gripe I have is that none of my meds are taken for a quick reversal if I should slip into Afib. for that I go to deep breathing and meditation. be well, Rich
But different strokes for different folks.

I take 50mg flecainide twice a day. my Afib, compared to others who have posted seems to be on the "mild" side. the incidents are infrequent and of very short duration. maybe that is why deep breathing and staying calm works for me. I also take 2.5 mg bisoprol which is a beta blocker and full dose aspirin. I have been on several other meds mentioned on Daily Strength as my doc works to find the magic combo.
you are all nice folks but I did not plan to spend my "Golden Years" this way. be well and enjoy the journey. Rich

I take 120mg per day, and another 60mg as needed. Luckily I haven't needed it lately, but when I did, the 60mg knocked my HR from 100+ to below 80 in !30 minutes. They say I could take up to 360mg per day as needed....
