WHY? You need to take your Metphormin. Diabetes can become life-threatening. Why would you refuse it? Two of my daughters take Metphormin and neither have any problems with it. Please don't just ignore the diabetes. That is the very worse thing you could do. You will eventually end up on insulin if you do...and worse yet it's a very dangerous disease when not treated.

... and with medicine, diet and exercise you will be fine... Mary Tyler Moore has had it for years (I know, who is Mary Tyler Moore?)

OK I understand you don't want to take more medicine. I am on Metforman and my diabetes is under control without using insulin. A very good friend of mine's son is 7 years old and has been battling type 1 diabetes for 4 years. He takes 6 insulin shots a day and has to have his blood checked 10 times a day. He is a happy and enjoys basketball and lives life like a normal boy. The way I figured it, if a 7 year old can handle this I sure can and I'm betting you can too. I have not had any side effects and it is comforting to know if I eat right and exercise I will never have to go on insulin.

Diabetes is not something you want to ignore and/or mess around with. High blood sugar causes all kinds of problem in the body including heart disease. So. don't be a hero and refuse treatment for it.

I imagine you have type 2 diabetes. No big deal as long as you go after it and make sure you get it under control. You can control it by exercise, watch what you eat, take some natural stuff to prevent absorption of sugar and carbs in your intestins and to open the sugar receptors on your cells.

There are all kinds of natural supplements available to bring down your sugar. Some of them are used even by body builders to prevent sugar/carb absorption so they can have lean body and muscles.

If you are interested in natural supplements, please let me know. However, you have to pay for them yourself. Some of them are not cheap. Also, you can go on Metforman drug, which I have "not" heard anything bad about it and it is very effective in bringing down the sugar too. Drug companies did good on this one LOL.

Bottom line, don't mess around with diabetes. It is more dangerous than A Fib in the long run, no kidding around, I am dead serious.

Well, Petey, I remember the Mary Tyler Moore Show well....:) That's a dead giveaway on age isn't it? She was on Betty White's 90th Birthday Party on TV the other night. She is very thin, and doesn't look anything like I remember her, but she has dealth with diabetes a long, long time and is still here. Carol Burnett looks wonderful. it's good to see these oldie but goodies still kicking. Imagine Betty White at 90 keeping the schedule she does...amazing!!

I agree diabetes is nothing to play around with. It can do a number on many body organs.

Please listen to your doctor's advice! Exercise is a key, something I'm not doing since the AF.

As the others have advised, do not ignore your diabetes. Diabetes affects every organ in your body. If left untreated, you are asking for big problems. Please take this seriously and hopefully you'll get things under control quickly. I feel for you. Nobody wants to take more meds, but believe me, not doing anything should not even be a consideration. Take care of yourself and good luck!

my SIL had diabetes and had a kidney replacement last year. He was so lucky to find a match so quickly.

IMO diabetes is worse than afib. Afib feels terrible but the diabetes sneaks up on you and poisons your whole body by keeping your kidneys from working properly.

Good luck and talk it over very carefully with your Doc.

Ray, I too have type 2 diabetes, my son is a type 1 since he was 12. Just take your meds, exercise and watch your carb intake, especially the white stuff, flour, sugar, white rice, etc... Oh and if you start Metformin, one big side effect is diarrhea but your body will adjust, so give it time. You're one of millions dealing with this, so take it slow and learn all you can. :)
