Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I know this topic has been discussed previously but I wanted to share my recent experience with a relatively new colonoscopy prep--SuPrep. When I told the Gastro dr. that I had AFIB, he recommended this prep which is done over 2 days instead of one and thus your body gets to rest in-between. I also was concerned about gagging on the typical solution. For this prep, you drink 15oz of the mixed solution at 7:00PM (and it is not too bad--use a straw) and then 32 oz of water within the first hour. The cleansing action lasts for about 2 hrs and then the next morning, you drink the second mixed solution (and water). It was not the ordeal I feared and easy to plan my meds around this process. I had a light breakfast the first day and then just fluids.
Re: the anesthesia: I think he used propofol. My heart did fine.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. I don't know about a 2 day prep. One day is bad enough. But maybe if it's gentler... I will try to remember to ask my GI doc about it. Thanks for the info and the video.
My first colo I used the tablets with a lot of water. I liked those better since you didn' t have the taste to deal with. Somehow they don't use those anymore.
I'm due beginning of next yar.
