Vinny, there's another guy who comes here who had the same thing happen to him. I'm hoping he will read this & respond. I just wanted to offer you my sincere wishes that things will get better for you soon. It must be very frustrating & disappointing to have your procedure canceled.

It is easy to get depressed with this heart disorder going on and on in our chests. Rest easy, though, because electrical cardioversions are far from a permanent fix. With the stroke occurrence, are you still a candidate for an ablation procedure? Have you tried persistently to find an anti-arrhythmic that might work? I failed Rythmol and Flecainide, but sotalol has given me some better releif -- not pefect -- but better. Also, sotalol didn't work without an electrical cardioversion first establishing the normal sinus rhythm. II have a doctor that kindly provides a benzo to calm my afib induced anxiety, especially around bedtime. That also has been a big help, and I must begin my meditation practice again. I also had to stop overeating -- the vagal nerve response activated by digestion is a strong trigger for afib including myself. Best wishes. You are not alone.

Hi VINNY, know how you feel! I was all scheduled for a cardioversion in March and had been on warfarin. My INR three days before had been 2.7 and so I went to hospital was prepped for cardioversion and taken to procedure room. Dr. came in and said he had s phone call from the lab, they had done blood work, and it showed my INR at only 1.5. He had them repeat it and it was the same. He was baffled as to could change so fast (never had before). So he csncelled it. My INR went back to WNL a few days later. He could have done s TEE to check for clots but we chose not to - we figured wasn't meant to be. I had been on Sotalol for 14 months and had no a-fib, a-fib returned and EKG showed long QT intervals. Tried Flex. As PIP - didn't work. So I am still in afib without many symptoms. I am now on Eliquis, cardivilol twice daily for rate control and B.P. Doesn't seem to work very well and he upped the dosage to Max. I am doing o.k. and I do not like RYTHM control medicines.

Vinny, I'm so sorry this happened. Have you talked to doc about referring you to psych for possible anti-depressant? Don't know if you consider depression bad enough for mess. Take care. We learn from you.

I had the cardioversion last friday and it only lasted a week so don't be to discouraged that you didn't have it because it doesn't always last. I know my uncle had it done and it only lasted 12 hours til he was back in afib. I wish you good luck!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.....yeah i think i overreacted to not getting the cardioversion but after showing up early...going through the check in etc...having tube shoved down my throat ...i was hoping to get in nsr to possibly have some dental work i need. Ive had depression most my life so deal with that on a day to day basis. Ive tried all the psych med and they all drove me more depressed and id rather deal with the depression than all the side effects, ..besides Im now over ten meds and will be adding solital after the cardioversion.
I have terrible neruopathy and was prescribed 300 mg Gabapentin twice a day but im afraid to try it after reading the disturbing possible side effects...especially after have such bad experiences with ssri etc. I am doing better on Eliquis than warfarin...so thats something i guess. The stroke I had in Feb effected my life profoundly which scares me what a bad stroke can do. I feel like im not the same person anymore. ok...kinda rambling now.....tc and as always....thanks for listening!
