both ablation and tikosyn? What's the reasoning behind that? I mean I thought they did ablations so you did not have to take those dangerous drugs.

there is blanking period thats around three months some take meds some dont maybe ill get lucky get off of them but until heart gets a chance to heal for me anyways they put me on the tikosyn most off the others either falled or i was allergic its not a bad so far keeping afib at bay maybe get lucky get off the meds .but for me im feeling the best ive felt in long time heart is healing the drugs help keep it happy while its healing not everyone has to mine was very persistant then got aflutter with it heart would shoot to 230 bpm now just ticks along at 70 bpm got lot more energy had to adjust life style still working on losing weight do lot more walking .but when i started this ablation journey knew it wasnt a cure just make quality life better and it has . some it does wonders one and done and live life like nothing was ever wrong .some it takes a couple .others meds hold for awhile others that can take it not symptomatic just live with it .abalation is just one tool in a whole chest full of tools .

kppmpng, the reasoning behind meds is a numbers game. If I were the Pharmas, Id feel left out. For some who ablate, meds have stopped working and ablation resets the engine to "work" again. Im guessing the success rate would be much lower without meds also. My question has always been, If meds are so beneficial, why do they stop working and what effect do they have on us that we have to have such an intrusive surgical procedure for a simple electrical issue?

I would imagine meds stop working because our metabolisms change over time, even the physical structure of the heart can change over time. Although a better explanation might be that the evil drug companies actually engineer obsolescence into the meds.

And as far as afib being a "simple electrical issue" - if that were the case, EPs would be unnecessary, this group would be unnecessary, and we could all get rid of our afib by eating a little bentonite.

Also, ablation is about as unintrusive as heart surgery could possibly be. At least until we have the tricorders promised by Star Trek.
