Ive never read the book, but Ive checked out his site. It has some useful anecdotal stories and comments, but pretty basic alternative info for me. The title is somewhat misleading. Just like other sites, Stop it, beat it, cure it etc, they all seem to have some ulterior motive selling a book or a procedure. I give him a C, useful, but nothing new for me.

I bought it. Don't waste your money. The title *IS* misleading.. actually a lie. It gives no new information. It pushes ablation.

Id go to amazon.com and read the customer reviews you can find out a lot about a book by doing that, they even have a look inside so you can see the table of contents and a couple pages of the book to read.

I bought it several years ago, and read a god deal. I think it could be a starting place for someone new to AFIB, it helps organize some of the information. For the more those who have been reading a studying for a while, its of limited value.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a friend of Steve's and promote his book heavily on my blog. I can assure you and everyone reading this he has no ulterior motive. He's one of the nicest guys I've met. He had 5 ablations and the last one he had "stuck." That was 16 years ago. He hasn't been on a single drug since and hasn't had even a skipped heart beat since. And for a guy in his 70's, he's very active and does a lot of running.

Because of his tremendous success with the 5th and final ablation, he's become somewhat of an evangelist for ablations. He's extremely passionate about ablations and he makes no bones about it.

Him and I attended an afib conference back in November and he raised a few eyebrows as he was the only one shouting (almost literally), "You don't have to live with afib. There is a cure!" That is his whole agenda...helping people find a cure, which he believes an ablation is the answer. He doesn't buy into the concept of "coping with afib." He believes the goal is to find a cure...not manage it.

His book is awesome for anyone new to the condition but if you've been around the block for a while with afib, there isn't much new you'd learn from it. He covers all traditional aspects of afib - the drugs (which he's vehemently against), blood thinners, various procedures, etc. And as you would expect, he promotes ablations as the best option.

If you buy it, buy it through his site because he gives you a discount if you sign up for his newsletter.

Travis, gosh, no wonder he needs to sell books, $1/2 million in surgeries! Im sure hes a nice guy, and maybe he doesnt have ulterior motives, but wow, who would hang in there for 5 ablations? I hope someday they have that dialed in to 1 and done.
