Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Make sure you get chelated magnesium or magnesium glycinate, its the most bio-available form. Other forms (like the magnesium oxide you get at the store) aren't as easily absorbed.
I'm at the 6-month point since my last ablation, still no afib or PACs (and PACs used to plague my life).

PACs are from what I was told the leading trigger of afib. They dont only originate from the atria but also from the pulmonary veins and arteries which is why they ablate those when giving you an ablation.
Just think of them as being the same harmless as PVCs now that they wont trigger your afib anymore. The good news is that now you know that your ablation worked. As for controlling the PACs, I think its a trial and error process. I tried magnesium of this type and that type at various prices at the health store. We tend to think that the more expensive they are the more they work.well I dont think this is always the case. I got a test done for my mag levels through a blood test and told that the accuracy of those test were questionable at best. So I added 3 things to my daily useless vitamin armada.
1- I take 200 mg of Mag Citrate morning and evening.
2- I eat one complete avocado with lemon juice, salad spices and a very small amount of Himalayan salt.
3- Finally I take magnesium bath every morning for 20 minutes.
OK, so it seems like it helps, but keep in mind that PVCs and PACs are caused by an irritation/inflammation that causes you heat tissue that like anything else recedes after a while and goes away. In the past 20 years I had about 5 or 6 bad episodes of PACS/PVCs that each lasted months (like in some cases 6 to 8 months). The weird thing is, every time I get those long bouts of palpitation periods, they always seems to go away by them self.
I think it is a bit the same for afib (in some cases). If the PACs trigger the afib and you can control the PACs then the afib should disappear on its own. I think people who suffers with paroxysmal afib triggered by PACs (like me) have to control those PACs. No PACs = no afib! You can see that now that you had the ablation. I bet that if you did not get ablated you would most likely had many afib bouts since you have the PACs.
So, the 1-3 step above is what seems to have worked for me to control PACs (no all of them) but I have notices a big difference and I was afib free for the past few months since my palpitations are less severe.
And again, maybe it had nothing to do with magnesium and the inflammation just went away on its own. Maybe it was stress, physical exertion a cold, the new job.who knows.
