IMO, thats an egregious dose and nightmares are the least of your problems. Robbing nutrients from your bones and blocking your muscles from releasing sodium to keep your heart in rhythm with this med could be disastrous and temporary at best.

Actually that's a fairly common and normal dose , although I have not had to take that dose yet I know many people here in my life and here on the board who do , its a sodium channel blocker that works miracles for many of us , for me it has been a blessing for almost 11 years without a single hitch , not so sure about nightmares , but that is my opinion for what its worth :) Flecainide has robbed me of nothing ....

I've been on that dose for over two years now and had no adverse effects. How long have you been on it, Finocchio?

75mg twice a day for about 3 years. No side effects. No bad dreams. Flecainide gave me my quality of life back.

I stand by my post. This med didnt make the top ten most dangerous for being baby aspirin, with a black box warning. Not to mention, the doses that some are saying has been a life saver has killed others and would require serious testing or an overnight stay in a hospital before scripting. I ts a personal decision to allow your body to adapt to that higher dose. Thats how horrible AF is. However, once again, Ive found something better with zero side effects. As a PIP, I will keep on hand with hopes I never have to use.

Just want to say aspirin can be lethal too. I decided to try flecainide knowing well all the warnings. A fib had become more and more frequent for me and I am highly symptomatic and it was interfering with my life almost daily. Flecainide has kept me in NSR for a long time and a lot of days I don't really think about a fib. It has been the right decision for me.
Would love to know what you have found that is better, as a PIP???

as a Flecainide girl Im with Marikay on every comment she made......and seriously the doses we are talking about are not high doses , high doses is 200mg twice a day, and the people who need to worry about the most serious side effects are those with hearts that are not structurally sound anyways, I too would love to know about your PIP that has absolutely no side effects cause any of us would be all about having that as our go to........

Ladies, I must have worded that wrong, so Ill restate, Ive found something that keeps me in NSR but as a PIP, nothing works as fast as Flec. Tho Ive only converted once with it, in 45 min. To self convert with alternative takes hours or days, so as a PIP, safer but not as efficient.
I understand what you are saying about a structurally sound heart before taking this med, however, that doesnt discount many more reported cases of those approved for this med with some serious side effects, several involving paralysis in the facial area, something that started to happen to me which I caught in time. You both seem to have few issues with this and it sounds highly successful with your condition, I couldnt be happier for you and dont wish anyone harm from this simply because I had unbearable side effects at 200mg, and few at 100mg. As for what keeps me NSR, its quite a regimen, and to be honest, Im not certain if its a combo of things or if a couple of things did the trick.
