Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Just saw my EP for my yearly visit. I am continuing on flecainide, my EKG looked good, I do not believe I have had an episode of a fib in almost a year. I have to wear a monitor for 2 weeks to make sure I'm not missing any a fib.
Then...the stroke prevention talk. I wanted to ask him and he beat me to it. Discussed the Chads2Vasc and he believes I should be on something better than aspirin. The fact that I am female pushed it over the edge! His recommendation is Xarelto. I picked up the pills but haven't started them yet.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Xarelto...either good or bad????

No problems no bleeding no bruising and no upset stomach.
If I had know about this drug I would have protected myself during my runs of AFIB. I was a CHADS 0 now I'm a 2.
