Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group

Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

My A-Fib is now coming and going. I can go weeks without an incident, but when I get one, I'm extremely short of breath. Has anyone else had this problem?

No... but SOB is a common symptom of afib and the rhythm and rate control drugs used to treat afib.

I wouldn't say I was extremely short of breath but I definitely was SOB while in AFIB.

Also, I stopped Metoprolol after my ablation but started back up a few weeks later when my HBP returned. When I started back up, I had problems catching my breathe. (I switched to Lisinopril for HBP after that.)

So as stated above, if the Afib doesn't cause it the meds might.

Yes, I sometimes have shortness of breath. And isn't that scary!
