Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
My question to you is this....Why aren't you on any meds? Do you have a cardiologist or EP? The risk of stroke is higher when you are not on anticoagulants and have afib.

In AF I become dehydrated. I'm aware of an irregular HB (between 65-85)/ I experience some fatigue. Episodes last 12-24 hours and self convert.
I also seem to have a pattern. I've recently documented my AF episodes on a cycle of 2 -3 times a month, 9-12 days apart. looking back this has pretty much been my pattern since being diagnosed in July 2010.
Alcohol, heavy meals and eating late seemed to be my triggers. Now I think it's more on a monthly cycle. I see my cardiologist and see what he thinks .
I was just wondering if there was anybody besides me and Bergeram not taking a bunch of drugs because even when I was taking them it seemed like afib had to run it's course. I'm just amazed that there isn't any better treatments out there.
I know everyone is different but I wonder how much all the drugs effect everyone in different ways.
I'll probably do an ablation(s) in the future but I can't help to think that killing parts of my heart is a good thing at my age. I keep thinking I'll have the ablations(s) then 10 years down the road, I'll hear the Doc say we can't burn anymore of your heart, it's like a piece of jerkey now and I'll be worse off than if I did nothing.
I took Metoprolol when first diagnosed July '11. I felt awful and I still got episodes...so why take it. My dr. said, I needed a pace maker to tolerate the Metoprolol I was shocked at his thinking....So....
I found a new Cardio Dr. who agreed with me...PIP is the way for me to go.
I take only Pradaxa every day.
