I developed PVCs about 3 or 4 days after my ablation. They persisted for several weeks. I went to my cardiologist to get an EKG to determine what the "skipped" beats were.

With that, my EP had me on an event holter monitor for 30 days in January 2012 (my ablation was in December of 2011).

I wanted to add that you WILL probably have some bleed through a fib until your heart completely heals and scars over.

i had PVC s after my ablation. I learned from a different site that this might be due to low potassium. I drank a glass of low sodium V8 juice daily and that stopped the skipped heart beats.
I like the juice so continue drinking a small glass almost every day, I also take magnesium.
My ablation was in October 2011 and so far so good. Wishing you all the best.

My ablation was March 1st and yes I've had a few times when it felt like my heart was "trying" to get out of rhythm but it was only momentary and mostly during the first few weeks following the ablation. Seemed like PVCs but can't tell for sure without a monitor. I'm still on Amiodarone though which probably helped limit the events. I will be stopping the Ami next month. That will really tell the story of where I'm at.

Wow, you had the event monitor for 30 days? How big is it, ohio? A pain to carry around?

heidet, my potassium is on the lower end of normal. So I'm taking supplements each day now.

Rick, are you having any tests done before they stop your ami? I feel a little chicken to stop my Tikosyn when it comes time. Will be so good if I can not have to worry about taking that on the dot. Also will be allowed other meds right now that are not allowed since they interact with Tikosyn.

After my ablation and when they released me from the hospital, they sent me home with a 30 day event monitor. There were times when I could have sworn I was in a-fib, but they were just alot of PVC's and PAC's. I did have a short run of a-fib about 2 weeks after my ablation, but I have been in NSR ever since. Good Luck. Wishing you well, and wishing you enough..

The event monitor I had I wore around my neck. It was kind of a pain but only about the size of a deck of cards.
I could remove it to shower. All I had to do was change the electrode pads every couple of days. The real pain was the monitor would record 3 events and then I had to dial an 800 number and "download" the monitor. Sometimes I was downloading twice a day. Oh and the monitor would beep, which aggravated me too.

I wore a 30 day event monitor in February. I was feeling some occasional palpitations. I had cryoabaltion in June 2011. The monitior showed some PAC's and one or two very short runs of AF. I finally saw the EP this week. He thought everything looked great especially since I was in persistent AF 2 yrs ago. I'm staying off of meds for now. Yay! I'm only on 325mg aspirin a day. I'm still feeling good and will return to see him in 3 mos.

Ohio, mine only records #2 events and then I have to download it. So when I'm out, i try to wait for the "big ones" rather than push it for the little blips in fear that I will have a big one and not be able to download it. You can't even find a pay phone to use nowadays to download it. Doesn't work on a cell. Kinda neat though to be able to catch something after the fact.

I just wish mine were PAC's or PVC's. I DON'T want a fib AGAIN!! I'll have to see what the cardio says about the atrial tachy. (he's not an EP)
