Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
How many of DS members belong to multiple AFIB sites/forums and how often do you view/interact with those other forums?
At the time I joined this site I also joined two others. Since that time I eventually found myself spending most of my time here on DS.
This was primarily due to the vibe of the group and the seemingly laid back/sincere attributes the group as a whole exhibited.
Maybe the website colors and font sizes also played a role in this as well as the constant solicitation by risque spammers. Lol.
In any case, due to the slow load time etc., I've experienced of late on DS. I decided to re-visit one of the other two sites that I am a member of to see what was going on these days. I was surprised at some of the very, very informative and intelligent posts as well as actually being able to edit my own comments.
This is something most sites offer these days in the 21st century.
It's quite likely that very few forums (if any) can match the front porch/backyard BBQ style/feeling of DS and it's forum members.
That said, I would sincerely encourage some of you to visit some of these others sites/forums as well on a regular basis.

I have joined several of the groups on DS other than afib. I am in several groups for my back pain issues. That feeling that I am the only one with an 'issue' is awful. I appreciate thoughts and feedback from others with similar experiences.
I also like to write, I am in a writers group here. We are very supportive of each others work.
When my Kitty passed away last summer, I joined the pet loss community. That was such a Blessing for me, I still go there to lend an ear for others. Loosing a beloved pet is so painful!!!!!!!!!
I love taking pictures, and often post on my Photo page.
Because of my back, I try not to be on the computer for more than 20 mins. at a time. I have to set a timer, because, I could be on DS for way too long!!
I think DS folks are Awesome!!!!!!

I like the feel of this forum the best and Mellanie's the best for new reliable info. But the "ain't got no Pinkluvr" feel.

When I was experiencing severe A Fib symptoms, it helped to have a place to go where someone could answer my questions.
It was good to be able to talk about my fears---- and other people would understand.
Learned a lot fast, and I'm still learning. Thanks to everyone for your posts.

I am also here for the "vibe". I came to get support and to give support. DS is just what I was looking for. You guys are the best!
When I decided (out of desperation) to explore the internet sites/forums on this "AFIB" subject (way too long after the fact). I eventually joined three forums/sites. StopAfib.org, DailyStrength.org and Yahoo Groups AFIB.
Truth be told, it's tough to keep up with multiple forums on a regular basis (IMO).
That said, even though I feel at home here on DS, I am wicked impressed with Melanie True Hills' site (StopAfib.org)
I am also in awe of this woman's relentless pursuit of pushing the envelope where education and treatment of this condition AFIB is concerned. Stateside and internationally!!
For all those here to stay at DS, I would encourage you to stop in every now and then at Melanie's site.
I certainly plan on doing so.
Much more often than I have in these many months.
DS is awesome and appears to have some roots/home base on the west coast. That's all I know about the site, as I've not researched any further.

Interesting observation are you sure you're not related to "Tcaepayguy?"
From what I have observed Melanie True Hills is an AFIB Advocate that gives 120% and then some.
We here at DS are also very fortunate to have Petey (Pacyetep) on board here. The site would not be what it is without his input/contributions. This also may be the reason the site is running so slow. Long posts can effect server bandwith. )
I also have set up a google alert on atrial fibrillation to get the latest news.

My eyes are tired from all the reading and my back is in need of ice packs.
I plan to save Them for a rainy day....it is raining in NE FL today~
troubles with afib. When I first started searching the internet I came
across afibbers.org. But they are no where nearly as friendly as these folks.
This is where I spend most of my time. I should check out Melanie
