Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I was given it when I was in the hospital on an IV and almost died from it. I spent over 2 weeks in the ICU because of the Amiodarone. The crash cart came into my room at 3am and I was flat lining with a heart rate at 266. I went into Torsades de Pointes which is lethal as my doctor put it. I now need to wear a Medical ID with Allergic to Amiodarone on it, because it is one of the first drugs they will give you in an emergency situation when you have A-Fib.
A lot of people take the drug, but several develop side effects from it as well. It also takes a long time to get it out of your system.
I would get a second opinion before you start this drug.
Try to stay positive. My first ablation (cryo) was unsuccessful as well. Second one 3 months later (RF that time) seems to have stuck. 5 months out and still no afib.
that was 7 months ago, like turning on a light switch I have felt great since, a last resort treatment, have to stay on eliquis blood thinner because a fib is still there in the upper chambers , but as I said feeling so much better , hope everything works out for you
So if this is what your EP said to stay on amnio until your ablation then
RUN Forrest Run!
