Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
The first 3.5 yrs. I took Metoprolol as PIP when I had an episode. I would convert in 12 hrs. average. Last yr. I added an aerobic exercise after my HR had dropped from the Metoprolol. I would jog ( my version) around the block. The increase in my HR would convert me. I went a few days shy of 8 mos. NRS, and when I woke up with it early July, I took 300mg of Rythmol and soon went back to sleep. When I woke up, I had converted. I have done this the last 2 times this week.
The stress thing has me going. The bites I have are so itchy. I went to pharmacy Tues.. to see about a better anti- itch med. and the pharmacist said it looked like bed bug bites. That really stressed me!!!! I tore my BR apart looking and vacuuming. So, when I went to bed, I was stressed...I have always Loved getting into bed at night, but now it was different. No bugs or tell tale signs did I find, and I have had no more bites . It doesn't look like bed bugs bites to me...but, I read that bug bites are difficult to ID. I really think it is from my hiking in the woods for photos. When I went out this AM I sprayed with Deet, and I didn't climb through any brush. When I got hot, I stayed only a little while longer. I am doing lots of deep breathing, focusing on Gratitude and hoping to stay in NSR. So grateful to wake up in NSR this AM ( I was beginning to take it for granted.)
May Today have lots of Blessings for All of us!
PS....the new Edit button is Great!!!!
PS I am so happy the font for replies has been enlarged. I have eyesight issues and could hardly read the tiny type.
I do yoga on YouTube. There are a lot of channels that are quite good. I am doing "the Mat Project" today.
My bp has been average of 108/68 for 3 years with no meds. My pressure went to 200/100, so I am taking Lisinopril 5 mg. right now. It will take awhile for me to get relaxed again. My pressure is up and down now.
So, I would try yoga to relax and anything else that you like, try a little mag if your dr says OK. Have you talked to dr. about this. My dr. said mag. would help the intensity of palps, but I am finding working on my stress is really best for me. I have had 8 episodes this summer. I was also given a script for Xanax.
Best of wishes to you NanZ!!!!!!!!
