Hi, for me, I have no symptoms. My heart doesn't race and I cannot feel it skipping around. My diagnosed episode, I wanted to go to Zumba, I really wanted to go, but I just did not feel right..and I could not get me to do anything..{I've had this 2x that I recognize in the past 5-6 yrs} Anyway, I went to Yoga later and felt OK, til I got home, and I had the same "not right feeling". I took my pulse with an arm monitor that shows irratic heart beats...The thing kept flashing the irratic signal. I called my GP and asked if they would take myBP. They did and my pulse was racing and the beats were all over the place. I was in the ER 20 minutes later. I was there from 11-6. They couldn' get my heart in rhythem. My ins. covers only the hospital 50 miles away..I was headed there. I begged them not to send me because my house was opened, cat out, etc. They saidOK and sent me home with Metropril 25mg to take 2x. When I woke up in was still in afib according to my bp monitor. By the time, I got to the Dr. my heart had gone badk to rhythem. My pulse was 40, so I am on Metropril extended release, 1 pill 25mg. a full 325 aspirin..and tomarrow, they want to put me on a blood thinner. My BP monitor has me in afib daily for a short period of time....I am beginning to detect a feeling...but not always. That's how it is for me.. I hope you are doing good things for yourself today. i have always had the little heart flops, skips, flutters here and there normally not lasting no longer than a few seconds. but this march i went into afib wide open, scared the hell out of me!! rushed to the er where my hr was 260bpm at one point. they kept me in the icu with rate control medicine , digoxin, metoprolol and some blood thinner, after 10 hrs my heart returned to normal but i still stayed 3 days overall there. after that i was on metoprolol 2x a day and digoxin,had my cardiologist and family doctor both tell me i would most likely be on them for life. well after feeling like shit for the next month i got off the metoprolol and went to atenolol once a day on the lowest dose(hr was dipping down into the mid 40's sometimes) needless to say i still felt horrible all the time until i went to see a Electrophysiologist in louisville who actually has afib. after going over my charts and doing a ekg he told me that his opinion was i had been mistreating my body to the point where my heart was telling me it wasnt going to take anymore, furthermore i had a sensitive heart and wasnt gonna be one of these guys standing around smoking when there 80 years old. he told me to stop all my meds at that point and to keep taking the 325 aspirin for about 3 more months saying the meds have nothing to do with me not going into afib they just keep my hr down incase i do. ever since my 10 hr episode i have only had maybe a couple flip flops or skips a few times a week and in the last month off the meds its been the same except i feel like me again
