Hi everyone, I am new to this group, but not to Afib. I have had paroxysmal Afib for over 40 years now. This last weekend was my first trip to the ER for it. It seems to me the episodes are getting more severe as I age. Especially the last couple of years, when I have a bad episode there are new reactions like muscle spasms and twitchy extremities, and now cold sweats that are very disconcerting. I have always been able to ride out the attacks when they come, but I ended up getting admitted to the hospital for a night this time. I am curious if the folks who have had this a while also experience a progression in the severity of the bad ones. It has gotten to the point I don't even notice the mild ones for the most part unless I get a flub-a-dub double beat kicker at the onset. My bad ones appear to be in 300 + range and can last a good long time at that rate before I convert. I am thinking that it might be time to get aggressive in my treatment options. I would love to hear about your experiences, and how you manage to lead a pretty much normal life as I do. I try my best to make sure this doesn't keep me from doing what I like to do, although sometimes it can take a day or two to convert and get back to regular old stuff.
