Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

I am feeling blessed this morning. I am afib free....again. I had my 6th cardio-conversion yesterday and am experiencing a normal heart rate. I forgot how good that feels. I am praying this one holds as I am taking meds now to help keep it in place. If not, I am scheduled for an ablation on Nov 1. But, for now it is wonderful to have a regular heartbeat.

I can't tell you how much it helps reading these postings and to know that you are not alone,.

Thank you all for the encouragement. Yes, I am happy and yes, it is good to breathe deeply and not feel your heart jumping all over the place.

I am looking forward to taking my dog to the dog park on Monday. We learn that the small things in life are really the big things!

It is a beautiful feeling, isn't it? What medication did you say you were starting again? Give it some time to work really well. When I started the sotalol, I was still having horrible episodes for the first 3 weeks, but now, none for 3 and a half months. I wish you good luck!
