OK, I'm throwing this out there so that my fellow Afibbers can add their experiences and wisdom and maybe give me some answers. I've been having chest tightness. Usually while sitting. I'm in school so I spend a lot of time studying, therefore sitting in one spot for hours, (usually with 10 minute breaks every hour or so). I spend plenty of time walking too. Four days a week, I walk three miles, so I'm moving a lot too.
My question is; can beta blockers cause chest tightness? I was asymptomatic when first diagnosed with Afib. I was unaware that my heart was beating 150 bpm.
I've never had chest tightness before until I was released from the hospital with a fist full of beta blockers and Eliquis. My eco showed no signs of heart damage. I have had three bouts of Afib since my initial diagnosis in April. Most of the time I'm in NSR. My chest tightness is constant, even when in NSR. I'm taking 25mgs of Metoprolol, two times a day. I can't help but think that because the beta blocker is slowing down my natural heart rate that it is causing the tightness in my chest. Dr. says I have nothing to worry about and to keep doing what I am doing. Any input?
