Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I take LOADS of vitamin C (4g daily spaced throughout the day). Its supposed to be good for the integrity of you blood vessels (and my blood vessels need all the integrity they can get!). As far as I know it doesnt prevent, stop or start a-fib.
The late, 2 time Nobel prize winner Linus Paulings did a lot of research on vitamin C and believed it to help stop the common cold among other things. If this is true or not I dont know. On the other hand, I cant remember when I last had a cold. Maybe it does or maybe I just havent come in contact with any of those nasty germs lately.

I have read where vitamin c can act as a natural antihistamine so if your runny nose is due to allergies that may explain it.

There has been lots and lots of research and papers about vitamin C and the fact that it cures all kinds of disorders from cancer to common cold. But, watch out! Those researches MIGHT NOT apply to you.
Based on all the research about vitamin C, I tried to take around 3000 mg (3 g) per day about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, I found out that vitamin C was one of my afib triggers. I tried it about 10 different times. Every time if I took more than 250 mg of C, it triggered an afib for me. I even could NOT eat a lot of fruits with high vitamin C like watermelon and oranges.
Now, after my ablation, I can eat fruits with high vitamin C, but I am still sensitive to taking more than 500 mg of C at a time or 1000 mg of C per day.
So, no matter what all those researches are saying about vitamin C, YOU have to find out for yourself if the C vitamin agrees with you or NOT. If NOT, do NOT take it or don't take it as much.
A side story: a few years back, I had a co-worker who had prostate cancer. He heard about the miracle of vitamin C therapy for curing/stopping cancer. He went to some institute in Tucson, AZ. and got high dose inter-venous vitamin C injections. Unfortunately, he wasted precious time going for vitamin C therapy for about 6 months. Well, the cancer spread and eventually he lost the battle.
So, the moral of the story is that NOT all research apply to everybody and vitamin C might NOT be effective for everybody either.
Last but not least, to make my immune system strong to avoid getting colds or allergies, I am taking "EpiCor". It is derived from yeast and has no side effects. But, it really works to make the immune system strong. You can Google it and research it. Here are some sites for it:

This is the brand that I take (made in USA):

My friends and neighbors take it and it works for them too. I found the EpiCor by chance when I was looking for supplements that boost immune system after my ablation last December.
