Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I, too, had my thyroid medication lowered due to my PAF episodes. I was supposed to be taking 100mcg, but was lowered to 88mcg. I was told it definitely is a factor in PAF. I have not had ablation yet (other than for STV) and I do not take other medications other than a PIP beta blocker, which only helps to lower heart rate during episodes. I worry too much, too! I worry about traveling away from home but still making plans to do so. Being in touch with others on this site is a positive experience. Good luck to you!
